Is Criminal Lawyers Canada a law firm?
No. We are an independent directory. We do not provide legal advice, do not represent anyone, and are not a referral service that charges lawyers for leads. When you contact a firm through a listing, you are contacting that firm directly.
How much does it cost to use the directory?
Nothing. Searching, browsing profiles and reading the practice-area guides is free for the public. Lawyers may optionally pay for an enhanced or featured listing, which is always labelled as such and never changes the information we publish about other firms.
How are listings researched?
Listings are compiled from publicly available sources such as firm websites and provincial law society records, then reviewed before publication. Firms can claim a listing to correct or expand it. Our editorial policy explains how corrections are handled.
Do you publish ratings or reviews?
We only publish review information where legitimate review data exists for a listing. We do not generate, estimate or invent ratings, years of experience, awards or credentials.
Which provinces are covered?
The directory is structured for all thirteen provinces and territories. Coverage is currently deepest in Ontario, and is being expanded province by province.
I have been charged. What should I do first?
Speak to a criminal defence lawyer before giving a statement to police. Many defence firms offer an initial consultation. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and outcomes depend entirely on the facts of a particular case.
