Editorial Policy
This page explains how criminal law information on Criminal Lawyers Canada is written, reviewed and corrected.
Purpose
Our content is general legal information for Canadian readers. It is written to help someone understand a charge, a process or a decision point before speaking to a lawyer. It is not legal advice, and it cannot account for the facts of an individual case.
Sourcing
Content is based on the Criminal Code and other federal and provincial legislation, court decisions, and official government and court materials. Where the law differs between provinces or territories, we say so rather than presenting one jurisdiction as national practice.
Contributed material
Members may propose educational content through the member editorial program. Membership provides eligibility to submit; it does not guarantee publication. We may edit, decline, update or remove contributed material. Links, attribution and page placement remain editorial decisions and are not sold.
Member-authored content
Verified Criminal Lawyers Canada members may write and submit articles through the member publishing system. Member-authored articles do not become public automatically. Each submission is reviewed under our editorial standards before publication.
An article may be edited, returned for changes, declined, updated or removed. Approval applies to a specific reviewed version; substantive changes after approval require another review.
Membership does not guarantee publication, favourable coverage, links or search visibility. Published content remains subject to Criminal Lawyers Canada’s editorial control.
Updates
Published legal information may be marked for review when legislation, court decisions, rules or official guidance change. Articles may be updated, archived or removed when they are no longer sufficiently current or useful.
Advertising and independence
Paid membership and featured placement are clearly presented as directory features. They do not buy favourable editorial coverage, and they are not a rating or endorsement of any lawyer.
Corrections
If you find an error in our information or in a listing, please contact us and select “Correct inaccurate information.” We review reported errors and update or remove the material where warranted.
